How to permanently compress helmet foam?
#1
I'm trying to age the side foam sections of my helmet. The helmet fits but the sides are a little snug. I'm trying to permanently compress the foam a little. I've had them crushed in a vise for two days now. The foam just bounced back after the first day. I didn't check yet today. Anyone have any suggestions?

How about you put your head between the two vises! lol, just kidding coyote. I think after time it should break it and fit to your head a little better. Just ride more or walk around the house with your helmet on

The helmet is like brand new because I usually don't wear one. I think it's a 2X. My cheeks are too chubby for the side cushions or the side cushions are too chubby for my cheeks. They kind of clash.

Mark where they're tight, take them out or take covering off and hit them with a heat gun. CAREFULLY. They'll shrink up like magic. Try it on styrefoam packing first so you get the idea. The helmet foam is denser so consider that.

Is it the spongy kind of foam (maybe not shrinkable) or the styrefoam like stuff (shrinkable)?
I doubt a hair dryer will touch it in any case. Not hot enough. Like I said, experiment on similar scrap stuff first.
