I own a 300ex. On sunday I managed to bend the rear axle. Totaly sucks since I've only had it 4 weeks. Anyway I was just wanting some suggestions on what to replace it with. I've looked through some magazined and seen durablue and a couple others. Any suggestions on which to get or who has the best prices would be appreciated.

 

All yea I should have mentioned I did it by smacking the back whell into a tree. Slide coming out of a turn and never stoped sliding i was going pretty fast. Is there anything else I should check. The bent axle was very notcible when I pulled off and hit second gear to fill like i was on a bucking horse. Thanks

 

I would look at Lonestar or RPM.

Dura blue makes a nice axle. I have one on my 300EX, nice product. Well worth the money!

 

I won't recommend DuraBlue X-33 axles. I broke an X-33 after only having about 40 minutes of riding on it. When I went to get the "lifetime" warranty, they didn't have any replacements, and didn't expect any for at least 4 weeks. I ended up trading the X-33 for an eliminator and alloy hubs. At an additional cost of $49. The guy at DuraBlue claims the solid Eliminator will flex more than the hollow X-33. Hopefully preventing another break. The Eliminator took about 3 weeks to get here, the hubs about 5 weeks. I have installed the Eliminator, but not the hubs. I have heard several comments on this forum about DuraBlue hubs being weak. When I broke the X-33, 2 other racers came and told me they have seen a lot of DuraBlues break. They recommended Lonestar or RPM.
I may have gotten a replacement X-33 at no additional cost (because it was almost new), but I didn't want another wheel and sharp-edged broken axle flying off. I am hoping the Eliminator will just bend instead of breaking.
A warning on the warranty: It is a lifetime warranty but, it is pro-rated. Meaning, you have to pay for the replacement. I suspect if you break one a month after you install it, you would have to pay.

The only reason I went with an aftermarket axle is for the width. So, if you like stock width, you should just get a used stock axle. I think you should be able to find one for about $100.
