Should I get a 400ex, 300ex or Wolverine? I ride some trials and I like a fast sporty ride but there is some mud and steep hills. My friends have a big bear 2wd and a wolverine. The big bear 2wd can make it anywhere the wolverine can. I ride a 86 honda trx200sx now.

 

are you planning to bye it brand new and do you really need 4 wheel drive

I plan on buying brand new and I do not really need 4wd that bad

 

i would get the 300ex because of reverse so if you get in the mud you could back of it you could always be like me and get a scrambler but you probably dont like polaris they have the fastest reverse on the market with switch on 4 wheel drive if you did alot of mud riding i would get the wolverine over the exs but you would mish doing donuts so i would get the 300ex forget the 400

Cory, I've got a 400EX and a 300EX (for the wife) and have several friends with 300/250X's. Let me tell you, unless you're a novice or very slight of build, there's no good reason to pick a 300 over a 400. It's not just the lack of power, it's the no suspention and tippy handling too. As far as price goes, for just a little more money you get twice the performance with the 400. I havn't ridden the Wolverine, but if you're counting on reverse to pull you out of a mud bog, I think you'll be disappointed.

A Warrior or Scrambler would compare better to the Hondas than the Wolverine. Think of the Wolverine as dual purpose machine not a sport machine.

4wd is nice for blazing trail and other slow riding. It is not needed for most trail riding. Reverse is very nice if you are stuck in water or mud. Many tires like the Realtor will lift you out as they spin.

Its tough picking out a new machine but I haven't seen many complain about what they ride. More complaints about not riding enough.
