I have been looking aorund for a good used quad and I came across a 250x thats in excellent condition. Are these quads reliable? What is the top speed like and is the lowend power good? Thanks

Jerrod

why does every buddy want to no what top speed is
why, why, why. when i look at a bike i want to no how much ***** it's got. all most all bikes run in the same neiboor hood in top speed unless you change the sprokets. if you have a drag car you don't build it for top end, you give it POWER to get to the end of the track the quickest. how often are you at full thortle any ways.

p.s. just my 2 cent's

I have a 250x and I like it just fine. it has good power at the bottom end and a decent top speed. if you are doing alot of ridding in the woods or in the dunes go with a smaller size front sprocket (just go down one tooth size) you may want to put a pipe on it also for more power.
But all in all its a great quad. Have fun.

We have 2 250xs they are great reliable nachines. They are also good wheelie machines. they can take a beating on or off the trail.

i got one......good bike

but for any second hand bike make sure you inspect the frame, swingarm carefully, look for wear on the alloy cam/rear bearing carrier, and condition of the bearings in the a arm pivots and the tie rod ends, and especially the nuckles which are on the end of the a arms....(those nuckles require a bit to replace)

......most importantly these bikes clean up well, so be sure to have a close look mechanically, to ensure a good quad

..........in saying this, you can fix every thing i have said!....just don't pay for the name!.....ensure you get a nice quad

I also have a 92 250X. Great bike. Some like it better than a 300EX, as the 250 is a lot lighter - no elec. starter or battery! LOTS of OEM and aftermarket parts available. Handles great - wheelies easy! A friend of mine races one, his is displacing over 400CC and he kicks butt!! Also, make sure you LOOK at the swing arm bearings - if they have never been replaced, they are probably due by now.

I've got an 87 250X and its a great bike. the only thing i've had to replace is the bearing carrier which literally shattered one day.
