I am working towards a race setup that will allow me to rides trails or whatever I want. Can I still race port? or just trail port? Also I cant afford everything at once, will I be alright getting a new carb and then boring the cylinder later or will this cause problems.?

You should have a plan on what you want and build accordingly, all the components will work together. You should call and talk to Rick, he has trail and race mod kits and he can set you up with what you need to start with to achieve your goals. He's very knowledgeable.

i wouls say,get the proper parts before like, pipe, reeds, carb, heads, flywheel, oil injection block off, clutch kit,
gearing,...once you got the whole parts then go for the cylinder with proper jetting, cauze that one will wear out sooner and cost the most.
you can trail ride on a race modded scrammy and it is smooooth and work pretty well if maintenances is done.

I have been doing that and it was a toss up between the new carb or a clutch kit. But my question for the clutch kit is this: I want to open up the top end rpm but I have a low end and mid range pipe on it. Will this be worth it to put in a clutch kit for higher rpm's? and if so where should I get it. I know everyone says ritter but what about aaen? If i call them will they tell me what they recommend?

you need to known at first where the pipe need to run at?
in this case i would simply make some minor clutch changes to avoid to nuy clutch kit then go for the carb.both rcr and aaen are great to deal
with especially if you want good trail friendly power.

Power?! Did I hear someone say Power?! A race mod is a blast and extremely reliable for trail blasting. Get yourself and HPD race mod, the right suspesion mods from Hot Seat, and go have fun. The beauty of the race mod (power-valved isn't needed, but does help) is with the HPD ATV8 pipe, that power is ALWAYS there. Doesn't matter when you stab the throttle, bang, it's ready to go. Lighten' 'em up (pre-mix 40:1 Polaris blue, and get rid of that tank of oil up front). Widen it a bit with wheel spacers up front and a wider axle out back.
Not sure if people saw the info about Polaris bringing the long travel rear Fox shock back, but after the 50th B-day bash it will be available.
Since a drag convertion, my wheel spacers, custom rear HPD/Fox shock, and a spare race ported cylinder are collecting dust....along with a yellow and red set of plastics.
