Does anyone know if you can get 660 crate engines anywhere? And possibly how much they would cost?

 

You can order them one part at a time from Yamaha, costs over $5K for a Raptor motor when you buy it like that. As far as I know, that's the only option for a "new" motor.

 

I have found honda "crate" engines before, and a friend bought an old 250 that had a replacment engine from honda as well, just wondering if yamaha had complete engines for sale. Might be my best bet to buy a complete raptor cheap then.

 

Theres an ad in the latest dirt wheels mag for Motor Connection in the showcase section(p190). Give these guys a call maybe.

 

The value of the raptor is less than the sum of its parts. If you really want a cheap raptor, get a used one. You will spend a lot of time and money trying to build one from scratch and it will still cost you more than a year old raptor with low hours. Good luck though, the choice is yours.

 

hey its probably gunna be cheaper to buy a used raptor is its for just the engine then try sellin the rest on ebay. also.. mad dog how do get that icon?

 

oh yeah... you an buy dirt bike engines online.... maybe a 450?

I need one for a minirail. Lots of engines on ebay, but I need a strong engine with reverse. Limits my choices pretty bad really. A raptor would be great, plus they've been out pretty long so should be more beat up cheap quads/parts quads available.
