Good buy man, that is a great atv. The best skid plate i found out of the research i conducted was High Lifter's...
www.highlifter.com forgot price.. then go to www.oxlite.com and buy the CV joint protectors. Cheap, light, durable, and logical. Best thing you can get!

Even cheaper and lighter CV Joint protectors can be bought at www.aluminumproducts.com. They are like 34.95 and very thick, very light aluminum.

Aluminum skid plate for sure. PRM products make a great one for less than Hi-lifter. http//:PRM-atv.com They go for $99.95 + shipping. They are full .250 " thick as opposed to others that are .190 " thick.
great buy on the Rancher. dare to go where no man has gone before.

I have a plastic skid from armadillo. I consider plastic better than aluminum.
absorbs shocks and vibations
does not deforme on impact
never rust
glides better
cost less $$$$$$$ 99.00 canadian (85.00 us)
and I BOUGHT IT ONLINE five days to delever @ my door.

I had a Maier plastic belly plate on my 450ES, and it worked great for me. It took a pounding too...over rocks and logs. All it got was a few scratches. It definitely paid for itself, and for only $50.00, it didn't take long to do it.
