Today I entered my first mud race. There were about five different truck classes. A motorcycle class and two quad classes. The quads were 250cc and under and anything over 250cc.The track was 150 ft. long. It was held about a mile down the road from me at a friends property. They run about three races there a year. Mike also holds snowmobile grass drags at his place every year at different times from the mud races. I have gone down before and watched the mud races and after I moded up the scrammy I decided to give it a try. The mud wasn't very wet at all and before the racing started you could walk across the crust on top of the mud. The only ones that didn't make it through the pit were some of the street legel trucks. They ran the 250cc and under atv class first and then the super mod trucks after that. Then it was our turn and the track was kind of tore up after the trucks ran. There were eight quads in my class 2 400ex 2 new 450 honda's, 2 banshee's a predator and myself. I knew I would be up aganist 2wd sport quads from watching the races in the past. Most of the quads were running sand tires and they launched very well. Each quad gets two runs and you take your best time of the two. None of us were under 5 sec. after the first set of runs. But on my second run I ran a 4.5 something and it ended up being the fastest time of the day. Believe me I was very HAPPY !!! Thanks 420 it was fun and in a couple weeks I will run the Sportman 500ho in a quad pull at the county fair. I got a second place finish there last year. That is also a great time.

Srevare it is all fun and welcome to the forum. Snow, woods, trails and someday sand. I enjoy all of it and just getting out and riding is as good as it gets.

 

is ur flywheel race lightened or trail lightened? get some muddin tires on it and go back then u will smoke them again

 

Flywheel is trail lightened. I like the electric start. It is a trail machine not a race machine.

does it still rev quick?

 

No I don't have a pic of the flywheel, I wish I did. I think about 1 lb. was taken off. Yes it revs quicker but I put all mods on at the same time so I can't really judge how much of it is from the flywheel.
