Default (Off topic) Has anyone tried Bazooka base tubes?

A little off the ATV topic I know, but I spend about 2 hours a day in my little Toyota truck commuting to work and what better way to pass the time than to have a good sounding stereo system cranking. My problem is that there is almost no room behind the seat of the truck "reg-cab" and if I have to move my seat forward to put speaker boxes behind me, it will make for an uncomfortable ride. I noticed that the Bazooka 6 inch powered 100 watt tube will fit behind my seat perfectly but I was wondering if anyone has tried these things before. Any advise would be appreciated.

You get what you pay for. Some of those 6" subs don't sound very good. I like the sound of 12" subs for general listening, or 15" when doing dances.

There are some better quality drivers out there that can make good sounds from a smaller speaker. But, if I were you I would go to a real reputable car stero shop and have them make a box and fit a good quality drive in it. don't just get a bazooka.

Make sure you have a lot of power so it doesn't clip.

I would never go as large as 12in. subs...If you read up, you find that for best listening, a set of 8's would be best, only because of the length of the sound wave...Sub tubes aren't exactly best, mostly because of design. I myself have 2 10 in. woofers. Custom boxes can fix your space problems...if you are putting the subs inside your cab, there are other issues to deal with...just PLEASE don't go to places like audio express or best buy for your sound needs lol....like nyroc said, you get what you pay for...and those guys are getting 7 bucks an hour to move their product....I suggest going to a shop that is exclusive to car audio...just don't get screwed over price wise...its easy to do

You will have to move your truck seat further forword with a tube , than with a box with !2"s in it. Tubes are not the way to go in a truck. In a toyota you will more than likely have to go with a set of 8"s or a single 10". What kind of music do you listen to ? And what kind of budget are you on ?

Now for the most bang for your buck , you could go with a Kicker solobaric 8" in a vented box. These little doods bump pretty hard. They arent cheap and nieter is the power to push it.

I hope this helps a little , like they said above, go to a good specialized car audio shop. I worked in the industry for 9 years. I am a MECP certified installer and worked in sales for 5 of those 9 .

Thanks for the replies!! The speakers will be in the cab and it's amazing to me how many different opinions there are on this subject. I was told not to go with a subs larger than 8 inches because of the small space of the toyota cab will make the sound distort. I was also told that the bazooka 6" amplified tube puts out the same amount of base as 2 10" subs in enclosed boxes. I listen to a very wide variety of music depending on my mood on that particular day. Monday, I might listen to classic country and the next day Metallica and so on and so on. Thanks again guys!

Just my $0.02,

I've got 2 eight inch JL audio subs in a box that actually touches the magnets on both subs. In other words it is a very small, very tight box made of plexiglass (because it is thinner than MDF or anyother board out there, remember trying to save space). It actually fits under the back seat of my Extended cab F-150, and trust me there is very little room there. The size under my seat is probably the size behind yours, so try some 8" subs that don't need any ports and build a very small very tight box (remember you can go long instead of depth in your box to get the air you need. You'll get pretty good "bang" for your buck.

I think your biggest $$ issue is going to be the power to run these anyway.

My final statement....................Just sell the Toy, and buy a 4 door, King Ranch 4x4, Ford F-150. The way I figure it if your driving for 2 hrs, why not ride in style and luxury!!

your Toyota gets 30+ MPG?!?!

You must be the only one in the world with that model truck. Every single 20r or 22r/re equipped truck that I wheel with gets 21MPG or less.

My 1988 4x4 Toy with 30" street radials gets 20 on the best day.

Yup..

It's a 1988 Toy with a 22re 2wd reg cab auto and it averages 30.4 mpg. You must really have a lead foot to only get 20 mpg! If your truck has 30 inch tires, I guess it's a 4wd and maybe that's the difference.
