Let us know how it goes. Exactly the swap I want to do. I'd like to put the 250 motor in the bike and use the 500 motor in the trike. Wife has something against bikes though. Tried to figure why, but you know how that goes (it doesn't).
I've heard nothing but good things about Rickstator if you can spend the cash. I am surprised the stators are not compatible though between the two 1985 Honda two strokes. Is the crank mounting hole bigger on the 500 flywheel/stator or something?

Well, thing is i dont have a R motor to check that with. i know the flywheel on the CR is much smaller then the R flywheel. All i need for the motor is the stator assembly ( everything behind flywheel cover) and a carb with reed cage. Mounting in theframe shouldnt be to bad, just make some new motor mounts. I really dont wanna buy new stator assembly, but i hadnt found one yet, so i duno, lol. All i can say is that trikes gunna scream, lol. But ya i'll let ya know it all goes when i find a stator n get it mounted in.

Wow!! Sweet freakin trike. I'll keep a pic just to remind myself of what mine could be if I ever put out the time and money.
2 questions:
How long did resto take?
How much do you have in the resto?

the cr250 is the same as the cr500 stator clutch and trannie. Why not run a light. I know where you can find a intake for your 500 that will aline straight back from your cilinder. I would run v-force reeds. use 1\4 inch thick tabs for you motor mounts. Check out my cr500 quad and feel free to ask ????????????????????'s

Yeah im lookin for teh carb/intake now and figuring out an idea for the exhaust. i found an 88 flywheel stator, magneto on ebay off an 88 cr500, do u know if that would fit my 85 cr500 motor? u said somethin about cr250 is the same? i basically need everything behind the flywheel cover.
