Default Raptor gearing?

I have a stock 2004 Raptor and my buddy has a 2003 KFX400 (E2 silencer, head pipe, K&N, jetting, and one tooth more on the rear sprocket) and until the sprocket I could always take him on the holeshot. He is able to beat me on the launch and keep up for a bit, but I always beat him to the top. What I want to know is has anyone out there changed just their sprockets without doing anything else? If so, what gearing did you go with and what effects did it have? i.e.- able to wind up 2nd gear for takeoffs? does it bog in 2nd during trail rides, is the shifting any tighter? I just ordered a one tooth smaller front & one tooth larger rear and I'll probably be faster again, but will I lose anything?

Put a 12 tooth front or add two or three teeth to the rear sprocket and you will notice a great increase in useable power.

just try dropping the front sproket to a 12 then leaving the rear the same.. if that doesnt give you what u want take ur rear to a 42 rear..

Default Raptor gearing?

I'm wanting to do the same thing on a '04 Raptor, and I'm wondering two things:

1) What's the smallest front sprocket I can run?

2) What's the largest rear sprocket I can run and still have an aftermarket skid plate?

I don't know about smallest, but remember when going bigger
on the rear sprocket you have to allow for swingarm guard clearance........

That's what I'm afraid of. I'm sure I can add spacers to the skid plate to keep the skid from hitting, but I'm wondering how much bigger I can go without having to add some spacers to the skid plate to lower it?
