top end rebuilds are pretty straight forward. once you decide on what you want to get go buy a Clymers book of the quad and read through it. LOTS of info in them. im not sure about rebuilding a bottom end. im sure its all pretty straight forward as long as youve ogt a diagram and any necessary specs.

i d got for it especially if its gonna be a project and not your main riding quad. only one way to learn, by gettin dirty hands.

HTH

Default engine rebuild

usually for a top end youll pull everything apart and take the cylinder to a local machine/race shop and have them bore it out a bit to clean up the walls of the cylinder.
youll also need to get a new piston with the wrist pin and bearings and stuff and a gasket kit. usually shops will want the new piston too to match to the cylinder. then once the "jug" is bored and honed you reassemble with the new parts and gaskets. some things like the jug and the head bolts need to be a specific torque setting so you ll need to find that out for your application. you ll need a torque wrench or borrow a buddies for the specific stuff.
after the top is back together you ll need to rejet your carb to make up for the extra displacement from boreing out your cylinders. and then enjoy a fresh top end. remember to break it it correctly though before just hoppin on it and rippin.

hope this helped
