Raptor 660: Largest tire size??
#1
I'm about to buy a '04 raptor and since I'm going to be using it for trail use, what's the largest all-around trail tire diameter I can run without hitting the back of the heal thingy by the footpegs?

I bought a pair of 22-11-9 Maxxis Razr's to run in the mud/snow last fall. (They work great BTW) I didn't plan on keeping them on in dry dirt but I like the extra ground clearance. The extra weight saps the motor though. I don't think you need to go changing tires as soon as you get the Raptor.IMO
Also, the 22's are close to the heel guards with a stock swingarm, but they can be bent forward for clearance.

Cool, also woudl it be possible to move the heel brackets forward to clear as much as a 24" tire possibly. I just wanting as much ground clearance as possible for the types of trail riding I do.

Personally I think that's a bad idea. Too much lost hp, not to mention it would look like $hit. Plus I doubt you could fit them in without really messing up your footwell. I think you'll find that you wont need that much ground clearance......just a little more speed.

That's cool! So, I guess it's 22" tires for me then. Do you have any recommendations for trail riding on very rocky terrain? I ned something that has strong sidewalls to the say the least.

i remember seeing a raptor with 25 inch mud tires on it. it hade a huge rear spocket too. he didn't have the heel gaurds on it tho. i would go with the holeshot XCT's cuz they a tough 6 ply tires that are 22 inch. maybe razrII's?
