I'm looking into buying a Polaris Predator 500 or a Yamaha Raptor 660. But I think the Predator looks and would perform better. The only question I have is, does the Predator have reverse? I need reverse on an ATV. Thank you in advance for the response.

Doesn't it mean if it has a 'Transmission: 5 Speed (reverse)' - that is has reverse?
I looked on the main Polaris website and went to the Predator Atv;
and here's what it says for transmission.



And then I looked at the gear indicators information(for the 2004 Predator 500) and it has:

Wouldn't all that mean that the 500 and Troy 2004 designs have reverse?

Polaris started the movement, then Yamaha, and Honda followed with the reverse omission. O.k. well in this latest "wave" of sport quads. Once you ride the Pred with it's great sharp turning radius, not having reverse becomes a "non-factor".

 

I agree, there is no need for reverse on the predator, it can turn around within its own length.

 

Yes, I agree, the predator does have a sharp turn radius. But for the quad width trails that I've just ridden in, I wished there was reverse.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] Because it was a pain in the azz to lift the rear end to turn around in those tight trials.

I'd wait like everyone else says, the 05 stuff is coming out in a couple of weeks, people have been wanting reverse on the PRedator, maybe Polaris will come though this year, we can only hope! Reverse would be nice even though it's not really needed that often.
