Default Chain tensioners?

I have an 04 scrammy, was wondering about chain tensioners. Everybody talks about them. Are they really that nessasary? Also where's the best place to get one. Will they work with a skid plate? Thanks

I've had one on my 99TB for over 3 years and have never had a chain break.
If you do a lot jumping chain tensioners are a big help.
HPD and Hotseat Performance both sell chain tensioners for your quad.
They won't interfer with your skid plate but you will have to remove the chain
guard.

Cheap insurance for the tranny.$55 for tensioner verses $200 + for tranny case.
