Has anyone else had a problem with their oil tank? A few months ago I was changing the oil and the bolt did nothing but spin on the oil tank. Come to find out the whole assembly underneath had broken its weld. Honda said that I had tightened it to tight, but that is just an easy way out. What got me interested again is someone else told me there may be a recall. Any other problems? Anybody else heard about the recall?

I could have put a better weld on it with a soldering gun it seems.

Sup440,
I was experiencing a leak from the drain bolt area myself. Nothing was broke , it just wouldn't seal correctly. I also have a 440 and I thought it would be a good idea to get a Pingry oversized oil rez. It holds 1 more quart of oil than does stock. It is also vented to further promote cooling. I have been extremely happy with it. Add to that my Curtis Sparks ceramic coated header and my bike runs noticably cooler in the dunes. My thinking was anything 2 qts of oil could do
3 qts could do better. To me it's a $275 insurance policy. If you're running hare scrambles in the tight woods, running at relatively low speeds, I'm sure it would help keep the temps down when wind flow is at a minimum. I'll email you some pix so you can take a look at it. -RT

At the time, about six months ago, no one was making a larger tank. DG had stopped making theirs and IMS's was a one time prototype. Pingry had not come out with theirs.
