Default Kodiak/Grizzly noise

I have a 2002 kodiak 400 and a 2005 grizzly. They both make the same noise when going over choppy trails. It sounds as if something is hitting the underside beneath the seat area. Is it the brake linkage? or something unique to the auto trans?

I'm not sure what it is, but it's normal. Down hill breaking you will hear it as well. I think it has something to do with the engine breaking but I'm not sure. You just have to get used to it.

My 02 Kodiak makes the same sound. I'm told that this is a normal sound.

i'm glad i'm not alone. mine does it but it sounds like it's coming from the front left of the bike. its a high pitched metallic pinging noise. it only makes the noise one time. a few minutes later it may do it again. i haven't been able to duplicate it on purpose. it just seems to happen. i'll keep an eye on it though.

during downhill breaking, mine makes more of a chugging noise when i lock up the brakes. this i can duplicate. all i have to do is go downhill and lock the brakes.

It is normal aand it is the front axles and diff you hear. All differentials have some play in them and when there is no load on them the play causes it to make noise when going over bumps especially when braking. You will notice that it doesn't do it as much or at all in four wheel drive because there is power to the front wheels.

my kodiak is makig a ticking noise only in 4X4. It is a 400, no diff lock, and only when I'm making a turn. This is rpobably a ball joint, but if it was, then why is it not happening when I'm not in 4wheel?

It sounds more like a cv joint. Is your boot torn or does it have a crack in it. It's probably more pronounced in 4 wheel drive because your putting power to the joint. I would have it checked right away before it goes any farther.
