tied a vforce (wtf?)

ive read many posts of raptors v forces...and everyone says the same thing! the raptor will lose first couple gears but then pass the vforce at high gear, i raced my buddy with his and i swear on top end he crawled passed me like inch by inch, then we raced again and i beat him...but just barely!
i dont like to make excuses but...
- my clutch is slipping
- my tires were offset
- i weigh almost twice as much as this kid
even with the weight difference many people have told me i should spank him still, wuts goin on?

I raced my buddy on his kfx700 twice. Both machines compeatly stock I weigh about 50 pounds more. From start to finish I never saw him. He said he was fairly close at the start and then I ran away.
I would say your extra weight along with riding skill has alot to do with it. The 700 will run the same everytime with the auto. Your shift points changed the second race.

I have a vforce with only a clutch spring and a K&N filter and a buddy has a rappy with a stage 1 hotcams and yoshi pipe and filter and we are both about 250lbs and we have only raced a few times but we where very close every time with him winning all but one time.
I think part of it is that the V's seem to be very touchy with jetting and clutch springs. I have run other V's and totaly smoked them.
(Im not trying to start a war Im just over here in Yamaha land lookin up info on the 450's im going to get one for my wife)

ive never ridden a vforce no one I know owns one but I was passed up sand mountain by one. I was on a friends raptor which was piped and jetted and the vforce was also piped and he passed me fairly easily. They seem like they run pretty good but that is the only experience I have had with one

Seems like you answered your own question, with the exception of your tire offset. Tire offset shouldn't make a bit of difference. Fix the clutch and get ride of the extra "poundage" and it should be a different out come. Weight makes a BIG difference, and a slipping clutch definately doesn't help.....
