4-way race
#1
Had a cool 4 way race yesterday.
01' 400ex, 02' 300ex, 99' 500 4x4 Scrambler and me on my 01' Warrior
Predictably is was like this for almost every race
1: Scrambler
2: 400ex
3: Warrrior
4: 300ex
What shocked me the most was how close I was to the 400ex most of the time. And I was far and away the heaviest rider in the bunch. Although we did figure that me and my Warrior still weigh less than my father and his Scrambler. That freaking Scrambler weighs like 480lbs or something like that.
The Scrambler was killing us from like 15-30 mph for some reason but then he didn't pull away after that.
The 400ex and I were close until about 4th gear for me than he started to pull away a bit. I could see if the race was longer he might have even closed the gap a bit on the Scrambler to less than 4 quad-lengths. I actually expected the 400ex to clean house on everyone. Of course none of the quads were totally stock either, they all had exhaust and things like that but no engines have been opened.
I rode the guys 400ex and it felt pretty fast, but not really that much faster than my Warrior. You could tell it had more power but I was not blown away like I was when I rode a Suzuki z400. The z400 is a monster, and probably the most position-comfotable quad I've ever been on.
I was actually considering eventually upgrading my Warrior to a 400ex or Raptor next year, but now I think I'd rather spend some more cash and get the Z400...unless I get a killer deal on a Raptor that I just can't pass up.
The real sad races went on when my father busted out his 400 Scrambler 4x4. This thing has got mods everywhere. In fact he had to change pistons just to put the thing up for sale because the piston he had in there would not work with pump fuel. Even with the regular piston back in I've never seen this quad lose a race up to like 70mph. It's totally sick. I'm sure there are some Banshees out there with mods that would put him down but we've never ran accross one. It's for sale too, I think he's asking $3500 if anyone knows anyone who knows someone who might have heard of somebody who might be looking for one. It's probably the sickest 4x4 you'll ever run into.
