what pipe would be better for my ds650 baja x i want more power but i really dont no what pipe gives more and is the alba louder or ron woods

 

the ron woods is probably louder... i would suggest the HMF, im pretty sure it, or the ron woods puts out the most hp. (unless you want drag pipes [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] )

 

I disagree, I think the Alba is harder on the ears if it has the open endcap on it. The Woods turned down endcap really throws the sound away from you.

 

ya i have never heard one without the cap. if you ride in any state/gov lands that have ehxaust rules, make sure its quiet enough and/or spark arrested if needed.

 

i have a woods pipe not a big fan of the design, be it a good pipe bit the fit is tuff and the hitting the rear brake caliper isn't that thrilling to me. the alba i saw that pipe on azsand stage three and it was a fine pipe. i personally like the graydon- ct pipe seems to be a good fit with good performance. seems price is better on the alba but only about 50 bucks.

 

if u are wanting just the slip on i would go with hmf, but if u plan to do some other mods in the future i would defently go with the ron woods...it makes great power but it is VERY loud.

 

I have had Graydon, Ron Woods, and HMF exhaust on my DS650s.

As far as noise goes: Graydon is the loudest and most harsh sounding, and almost hurts your ears. HMF is almost as loud, but is deeper toned and not as hard to listen to. Ron Woods is quieter than the others by a small amount and has the best overall sound.

As far as power is concerned: Graydon made the least power. HMF makes the most low end power, and has very very good mid range and top end power. Ron Woods makes the most top end power, and most overall power. Plan on hitting the rev limiter in a hurry with all three pipes, as they all flow alot better than stock.

In regards to installation: HMF is the easiest because it is just a slip on, and takes about five minutes. Graydon and Ron Woods are pretty much equal, with Ron Woods perhaps being a bit tougher just because it is bigger, so you need to adjust it just right to make sure that nothing hits. And nothing did hit with my Ron Woods pipe.

If I were to buy one of these pipes again it would definitely be the HMF slip on.
