Default 01' Raptor 660 Pro's, Con's

Hey guys,

My friend is looking to buy a used Raptor. The 01's seem to be in his price range. What is the difference between the 01' Raptors? What improvements have been made? Would it be better for him to look at Maybe a LTZ,KFX, or DVX for the money? He is a pretty aggressive rider. He is 5'10 and about 170 pounds. He has ridden a Banshee but wants less maintenance so he is looking for a 4 stroke. Any suggestions??

Thanks

2001 raptors have transmission problems."BIGTIME"

go for something newer. Raptor =a good bike. I think 02 and newer don't have the transmission problems that the 01 had.

The 01 tranny could go and lunch the entire engine. What he is hearing about the maintenance problems on the Banshee is pure BS. Proper maintenance and good 2 stroke oil and a Banshee will last years. Also, in modified form it's not a ticking time bomb.

Well, he likes the Raptors but they are quite expensive. Even though the 05's are coming out soon right? What is a reasonable alternative?

Why not an LTZ like yours? No disrespect on your quad, but he should be able too pick one up in the $3,500-4k range easily considering the 05's are becoming available. Nice atv too that runs very good for a 400.
