330 trailboss

The Boss 330 is a great machine. I got one for my girlfriend who is just starting in this sport and she keeps up with the guys on it. Very reliable, great mudder, and great all around trailbike for the beginner. I give it two thumbs up.

My 87 year old dad bought one last Winter and runs all over the south Texas ranch he lives on. I bought mine a month later, seeing how good an overall machine it was.
Bottom line: it's not a racer, but a damned good general purpose quad that runs well, takes a beating, and keeps on ticking. Put sealant in the tires and you can go anywhere. Plus, the price is very reasonable, considering what some of the other faster or overpowered! quads will cost you.

I have been riding a polaris for a cpl years now. I just bought an 04 330 and I drive it more than my highly moded Trailblazer. It will go anywhere the sportsmans will go except for the deep mud but it holds its own. I like the racks for the cargo I can carry for the all day rides. Plenty of power for the trails. Not very fast but lots of torque. At first it is very slow when new but if you break it in good it will pick up some speed. The first thing I did was change the primary spring for better take off. I am going to put on bigger tires and gear it down so I dont lose any bottom end. I really like the change over My Trailblazer. You can just puts up a hill without full open throttle unlike My Trailblazer. Man am I getting old or what? I think It is much more fun on the 330 than my 250 unless I am raceing.
Markbanger,
I noticed that the 330 will not run with the airbox lid off. Is that because it is jetted small? Being stock will I gain any acceleration, top end, or anything just by changing the main jet. How is the dalton blk/wht spring. I dont want higher engagement but want higher rpm's on the top. I am running the Polaris white. Did you change the setting of the secondary spring to make it shift quicker. This 4 stroke stuff is new to me. I am a rookie again. I hate starting over!

To get if to rev higher you would need to tighten the secondary clutch or run lighter weights in the primary. JUst figure the primary spring sets your engagement rpm, the secondary spring sets your shift rpm. The weights in the primary will have some effect on both. I have a 2001 Trail boss with a dynojet kit and played with the clutching some. There are great gains to be made in the clutches. When you get them just right you will know.

I noticed that too when you take off the lid. By changeing the jet it will probly let you run with out the lid but I don't think you will see any speed gain because you will have more air and more gas but It can only travel so quick out the exhaust. The best bang for your buck would be the RCR stage one kit, It really wakes up the bike. The dalton black and white is really good. It engages a little slower but I gained like 5mph from it. I left the secondary spring alone. If you don't ride I rough rocky terrain take off the sprocket gaurd makes a little difference.
