When a rear tire is 6 1/2" inches off the ground the other rear and the same side front are also off the ground. I'm NOT happy.

I just backed one of the rear tires onto a floor jack and started jacking it up. The other two tires came off the ground at the same time.


Would someone do the same to their Sportsman and tell me how high you can go before the other tires come off the ground?

ill do it for yah tomorrow, I gotta replace a boot sealing the U-joint anyway. It also depends on the stiffness of the suspension. right now mine is stiff as it goes for better wheelies[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

The sway bar on the Sportsmans really inhibits the articulation on the machines. If you remove the sway bar, then you will get TRUE fully independent suspension. It does make it a little harry at speed though. I beleive that someone on ebay makes a sway bar quick disconnect for the sportsmans. Same concept as on the Jeeps.

 

The Sportsman without the sway bar connected will articulate big time. One wheel can be an inch shy of the rear fender with the other tires still on the ground. It rides like a boat at speed though.

The Artic cats are the only quads not linked by a sway bar, but the chassis characteristics are bad at anything other than slow speeds and rock crawling.

 

Thanks for the info guys. The 15 sec quick disconnect is ideal. You have the best of both worlds that way.

 

well, with my stiffened rear suspension it really surprised me. I got 11 inches before the front tire on the same side came up. the other rear wouldnt come up. I would assume with the preload the softest it would go, I probably could get atleast 1-2 inches before any other tire came up.

When you say stiffened rear suspension do you mean that there is preload adjustment?
