Raptor 600 vs Banshee vs Z400

ok guys..these are my 3 choices i have narrowd it down to....which would be better for all around riding, riding secondary roads for miles on end, and riding trails...not really tight stuff but like old logging roads and old oil well trails....i have heard people say the rappy is unstable but is that just something you have to get used to? i have ridding bikes and quads for 12 years of my life...im no rookie at this....i just have a 300EX because it was my first bike and it was cheap 1150$ any info would be good....Oh, and which would be better for occasionally racing it in like hare scrambles? i want to race a few of the local events around here...which would be better for that? thanks guys and gals...any info is great!

if you go with the raptor, budget a few more dollars to add a-arms and rear axle...
now you will not have a tippy ride thru corners and the power to outrun the 400's
if you want a stock bike and dont plan to modify...go with the Z
the raptor can be worked and handled no problem in the corners stock...you just need to have the skill to swing the azz around, spinning the tires....
many riders complain about the tippiness, cause they dont know how to ride(ie...first bike)
those that do know how to ride and complain...probably are used to something else...
anyway...good luck and enjoy
stock get a z400, mod get a raptor

From everything that I have heard Voodoo is correct. I am a beginner rider so I choose the Z400 and it suits me great (even though I am 6'3" 240lbs) If you want speed go with a Banshee hands down, then Raptor. Both the Yamaha's can be modded to get great speed out of the machine. The Z400 you have to work at it more to make up for speed but it makes up for it in handling. Since you have been riding for a while I would suggest the Raptor. Four stroke, less maintenance. The Banshee is really nice and all but it depends if you are going to be wanting to tinker with it a lot to get all the settings right. The older Banshee's are in a good price range as well. I would stay away from the earlier Raptors (Tranny problems and such on 01's). Which means the price starts to creap up on you quick for a newer Raptor. If you want get a used Z400 and put a 450 or 430cc kit on it and that will make up for some lost speed if you want to speed and handling. The Raptors are nice but it was just not for me as a beginner. Good luck!
