I found a very, very interesting UK link on a modified SRZ660 for racing that includes dyno charts: http://www.supermono.co.uk/supermono...cification.htm.

HARD FACTS(SRZ660):

1. 43HP Stock

2. 46HP Stage One (Jet Kit w/slipon exhaust) - See dyno curve: www.supermono.co.uk/images/DynoGraph1.jpg

3. 65HP Stage Two (high compression 102mm piston@686cc, Carillo rod, cam reground, titanium valve retainers, Yamaha Race Kit ignition) - See dyno curve: www.supermono.co.uk/images/DynoGraph2.jpg

4. 68HP Stage Three (twin 37mm Keihin Flat Sides, #170 main jets) - See dyno curve: www.supermono.co.uk/images/DynoGraph3.jpg

If you recall from 4-Wheel ATV Action, the DS650 Ron Wood Stage 1, 2, and 3 kits made around 48HP, 53HP, and 58HP respectively. Stock was around 42-43HP.

To be fair, I must post a link to similar kits for the DS650: http://www.team-pami.de/ENGLISCH/PRO...frame_kits.htm.

Scooby,

Wow! You get an A+ on your investigative skills. I thought I had checked the web for all related info, but you have done much better.

Just think, the Raptor engine, with its lighter weight valves and crank is already a step up from the engine in those test! Also, I noticed on that page that the factory rating for the standard bike is 48bhp while the dyno showed it to be 43 as you mentioned. Does the DS really dyno at 43, or is that the factory rating?

I'm re-invigurated with the new info you dug up. So what do ya think, is the Raptor gonna be quick or what?

I figured a lot more of the people would have jumped on this post. Anyway, how does this HP level mentioned compare to the big bore 400ex kits?

I am still a little unsure about how the Raptor will respond to upgrades. Is the stage II kit mentioned is a big bore? It seems like Yamaha already has this engine pretty pumped up. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

ridzhard,

I think you are correct about the stage II being a big bore. Although these mods are promising, it is still worth mentioning (again) that this is the 660 engive found on the MuZ bikes and the 660 XTZ found on the Dual Sport Yamaha. The Raptor engine is supposed to already be enhanced compared to the 660 engine mentioned. It could be that the Raptor engine does better or worse in comparison. From what the magazines are hinting at, the Raptor engine is going to start off at somewhere over 45 hp to start with, but we'll have to wait and see.

68hp! all i got to say is wow! that would rock. Oh and by the way , ATV sport dynoed a 440ex on two diffrent dynos. One said 49 rwhp, the other said 41rwhp. Just goes to show how hp can vary from dyno to dyno.

Bash
My CT440 puts out @45hp.[according to CT, not me]. Curtis Sparks now has a 465 Stroker that they swear runs with their 70+ hp 330R. They must REALLY be leaning on the compression. You guys are right, it will be interesting to see how the mod's work on this engine and how quickly they will come to market. Don't forget, TC Racing was building 60+ hp 250x based engines 3-4 years ago and IMS had 440 kits for the XR400's, so the tuners had a head start with the EX. On the flip side, we've all seen the dyno results of the yz400/426 when you change the pipe. 4 out of 5 lose peak horsepower and the biggest gain is less than 2hp. Yamaha is sending these 5 valve engines to market loaded for bear. There is no doubt that the Raptor is gonna be a fantastic quad. If I had to buy one quad and ride it with no mods it would undoubtedly be a Raptor. And that's all I gotta say 'bout that. By the way, what part of KY are you from. My entire family lives between Evansville,IN and Paducah.-RT

Trx440,

My guess is that with the lower compression, the Raptor engine is a little less "loaded for bear", but I think it's still going to be pretty hot. I would say that Yamaha is going for reliability with the current configuration that the engine is in.

I live just outside of Madisonville. If you travel from Evansville to Paducah, you'll more than likely go through Madisonville.

I'm just under an hour away from both of the towns you mentioned. I go to Evansville fairly often and Paducah about once or twice per year.
