Default Dumb question about the deff. lock

I picked up my new 650 Wed. I've never had one with the deff. lock so it's new too me.The manual says never to go over 10 mle an hour when locked,But when your spinning your wheels in the mud it seems you would go over that,Have any you guys had any problems with yours? Thanks for the advice

Default Dumb question about the deff. lock

I'm pretty sure it says that because you can't steer the beast with it locked up solid and you would kill yourself if you went too fast.

Default Dumb question about the deff. lock

safety precaution. Ever wonder why the tow rating for a 1988 Honda 300 2wd and a 2005 Rincon 650 are both 850 lbs? Safety precautions to cover the manufacturers ***. If something happens, they can say "See? We told you so"

If you are in a low traction situation, mud, loose dirt , ice and so on ..dont worry about the 10 mph limit. If youre on high traction surface, packed dirt, pavement and so on, dont use the diff lock at all.

Default Dumb question about the deff. lock

I had to take mine out and got about 30 out of it in diff lock in the hard packed field. It is one of those things like when my mom used to tell me don't put my hand on the stove cause it was hot, I put my hand on the stove human nature i guess. And by the way that was when i was about 4 i did that

It's because you can't steer with it. I've had mine doing 30 MPH in the snow with it locked (well, the speedo claimed I was going that fast!)

Default Dumb question about the deff. lock

I have a new 500TBX 2004 model and was wondering what the diff lock does? Do I have one on mine?
Also, does all 4 wheels turn when locked in 4x4 or is it just 2 or 3 wheels being driven by the motor?

How big of tires and wheels can I put on this thing without them rubbing?

Do certain tires require that you go only so fast? I was noticing the AG tires said not to exceed I think 30mph...I dont want tire that slow me down but would like a better all around mud tire than stock.

Where should I buy tires to get the best deal?

Also, is there a good CV boot protector that does a better job protecting the boots than the stock ones?

Thanks
