Default something isn't right? kfx 400 hanging with a shee?

my buddy came back all dissappointed from riding, so i asked what the deal was and he said, "the only way i could beat this kfx 400 was in top speed." He said they ran a couple times and the 400 was hanging with him all the way up until top end, then he could finally pull away. So i'm thinking this 400 must have airbox/filter mods along with some sort of exhaust, no. It was bone stock. Here's the best part yet my buddy shee has toomey T-5's, dual K&N clamp ons, no airbox, and reed spacers, with a 300 main, and it just came off a fresh rebuild (121psi, i checked personally). what gives? i told him the shee couldn't have been running up to par. But the thing is he's convinced that those stock kfx 400's are really that fast, i told him no way the shee just wasn't running right. According to my calculations with that set up on the shee he should have spanked him from start to finish, no contest, my 2 cents. Anyone else think the shee wasn't running right, or are the kfx 400's that fast?

Don't think the Shee was running right or maybe the terrain they were racing on wouldn't allow the Shee to hook up.

Or possibly your friend needs to learn how to ride a two stroke...because it shouldn't even be close!

yea he needs to make sure he winds out the gears and only feathers the clutch and never let off the gas. If your jetting is correct you should smoke the 400

Loose surface?

If they were on some kind of hard-pack loose surface I could totaly see it. The Banshee would be losing a ton of traction compared to the 4-stroke. Tires just spinning like mad on the 'Shee while the torque of the 400 was hooking up.

apparently everybody seems to feel the same way i do so that's good, and now that i actually think about it i never asked what kind of surface they raced on. I bet, more than likely it gravel roads. That would explain why the 400 could hang so well. Also i was looking at his shee for him last night, just to see if i could find anything wrong with it and sure enough i think i found the culprit. when he put the pipes and filters on he changed the jetting to 300's and that's good but it won't do crap unless he raised his needles, which he didn't. so i raised the needles and he going to try it out once he gets off work. i think that should've fixed it, anyone else think so?

even if the shee was spinning it would still be able to keep up if not pass by ATLEAST 2nd gear
