Best trail bike

Im looking into buying a new atv thats good on the trails, and has alot of power. I love my 250, but I think im ready for something bigger. I was thinking the 400ex, but the z/kfx 400's sound better with their reverse. Id like to have a 450r, but I need money to pay for a vehicle and insurance when I turn 16. Are the z400's good on tight trails, and do they handle any different from the kfx's? Also I read in Dirt Wheels that the z400 is going to be lightened for 2005, along has getting better performance, does ne 1 know if this goes for the kfx too?

I own all 3 of the bikes you mentioned, so you aren't going to get any BS here! The EX, Z, and R, all have great trail chassis, but the motors are VERY different.
I pick the EX for very tight, slower, sometimes semi-technical trails. The engine happily will lug down, and does well at slow speed. Still, it has more than enough power when you want it.
The Z engine is more of a rever. It doesn't like to lug down, so you are going to have to do some clutch slipping in the slow stuff. I pick it for faster trails, and more open country.
The R has great trail handling, but very tall gearing, and the engine is all REV! Pick it for very fast trails and wide open country. So, it probably isn't the best choice for you anyway.

Between the Z and EX, get the more modern Z (or check for a local Arctic Cat dealer, same as the DVX 400)
Also for a great all around machine, with great bang for the buck, have you thought of a Polaris Predator? Go sit on all of them, and take 'em for a rip if they let you.

I was gonna sugest the v-force becase I have it and is the best trail machine I have owned. I am not looking to start a war here just my 2 cents. NE one who says its slow................................ has not riddin one and should be discredited. I just saw you are 16 V may not be best im 25 6'3" 225 so its great for my big a$$. Its also quite $$$$$$$ so you have to have a good bounce!! I have ridden al machines listed and all have their specific purpose.
