Hey Mabell
I have tried everything to read my plugs, and i cant do it---I found the best way to tune was to run up a big hill at wot and try a variety of jets until i could get my best top speed at a given point uphill at wot.
I am presently running a 150 main, stock was a 155----seems odd with my mods that it should run best with a smaller jet, but it does. last time i pulled the plug, the middle electrode was burning about the same as yours, white to tan, but top threaded ring of plug was still black, but bike is running excellent, so i aint touchin the main no more.
Midrange power, like spinning the wheels on a powerslide through a bend is determined by the needle jet settings. I borrowed a micrometer, and after determining that the 150 main jet was best at top end, I started playing with the needle shims, until i got my best midrange. The needle shims seemed to pull all of my mods together because none of them seemed to improve performance until i started playing with the shims.
lastly, i was getting alot of backfiring on decelleration, my stock pilot jet was a 35---i bought a 37 and a 40 and tried them both, my acceleration from a dead stop seemed to suffer with the 40, and when i put the 37 in, acceleration went back to normal and i have no backfiring at decelleration at all.
Hope this info helps--i am very happy with my mods

yes, the tailpipe is getting black. it seems to be running good. i have been getting a little backfire out of the tailpipe, so i thought it may be a little rich. but when i saw the white spots on the plug i was a little confused. thanks again

Honestly, looks a little lean to me. I think the white electrode should be a touch more tan colored. And the fact that you mention the backfire out the exhaust also indicates a lean condition.
In my limited experience (and from reading Dynojet troubleshooting info), backfire can be caused by a lean condition, or an exhaust leak.
I like to run just a little rich; gives me peace of mind.
