Your not trying to hotwire a bike to steal are you?? LOL
With my 83 big red I had, if I unplugged the 4 wires going to the igntion, it would start and run. 2 wires were for ground (when key is off)and 2 were for the lights (when key was on). So by unplugging all 4, it would run, but no lights. So I figured hook up the 2 wires for the lights and it worked like a charm.

Bikes are easy to hot wire. We have had to do it a hundred times, when someone shows up for a ride with no keys. I have started just leaving my keys in the bikes all the time. They are chained up with Kryptonite chains and locks, so they aren't going anywhere anyhow.
