my recon is really nice never rode a beartracker but have owned 3 timberwolfs (simaler) and the timberwolfs wernt that great they would have had to update them ALOT! to get them to even close to the recon

If you are going to be riding trails like we have in Michigan (bumpy with lots of roots) I would suggest you get her a more performance bike. I have a new 2000 Recon and have been tipped off twice only because I bumped into a root. Look for the right bike for your type of riding that is forsure. But between the two, the Recon is a much better bike.

Get the recon. It is way better than the beartracker.....top speed and reliability..i mean cmon its a honda... i raced a beartracker and mines stock besides maxxis sur tracks and his has a new motor (blew up before) and i still won ...even with them heavy tires on there ... the recon you could beat the living **** out of it and shell still go ..the only thing i dont like is all them hoses on the carb.. if one gets in the water it spits and sputters then dies i wish honda would fix that somehow ..but i would recommend the recon for your ol' lady lol

i have ridden both before i ever even got my Ex . The beartracker is pretty slow and Tippy and the supension is really soft. The recon is a good bit quicker and has a more solid stance. So i would say get the recon

You won't go wrong with either of them, seriously they are both great 2 wheel drive atv's, reliable and easy to drive. I assume that top speed is not a priority , when buying a wife an ATV, so that really doesn't matter. For me I would go with which ever one has a better dealer and maybe go for the cheaper one of the two.

I would agree they are both good machines. I used to have a Timberwolf 2wd. I like it alot, decent power, light handling, good suspension. Also for 2001 they now have hydrolic disc brakes up front, so now they are better than ever.
