Default 2005 400's

So I wander into the local Cat dealer in Reno and pick up the fuel shut-off **** I ordered to replace the one that fell off my wife's ATV when I stumble on a couple brandy new 2005 400's. Seems ATV's are just like computers. As soon as you finally make the decision to actually put your money down and buy one, they come out with what you really want in the NEW model... They have put the nifty digital instrument pod on the 400's now, but the BIG news is, they've included the front diff lock, operated by a lever on the left handle bar. Dang it!!!

Well, I'm going to have to live with the 'old technology' for a few years, I guess. Besides, if I went to the trouble (and EXPENSE!) of upgrading now, I'm sure next year they'd come up with the adjustable air bag suspension with on-board compressor, selectable clearance height, handlebar controlled tire pressure, topo mapping built-in GPS, 10 gallon gas tank model...

... And then where would I be???

MrTommy; Do I detect a touch of the old buyers remorse? Don't we all. Fortunately for me this is the year I add to the litter. The wife really likes the '05 400I Auto. So as soon as the cast from the surgery comes next monday we are going shopping.

Funny, when I bought my Cat in 02 the first weekend I went out I lost the shutoff ***. This appened to several people. The vibration backed out the screw! :-) I put the new one on with a little loc-tite and never had to replace it again. Good luck MrTommy!

yep it always get better. I held off till last year and bought a 400 manual. If you keep waiting you'll never get to play. I have a friend thats building a chevy Nova. Everytime time a new "part off the week " comes out he pulls it apart and starts over. It has not been on the road in the last 5 years !! He's never going to get it finished.

A week or so ago I posted a note about my wife's losing her shut-off **** - and a RAFT of people wrote in and said the same thing had happened to them. And when I called the dealer to order one, she told me she had a big order in for those *****. I asked if this was a common thing and she actually laughed - before she said "many" people had lost them. AC - are you listening???

The new one has gone on WITH Loctite, and I took mine off and Loctite'd it on.

I agree, NovaSS. You have to make a move Sometime, or else never get anything. I have a friend who is perpetually waiting for "the new models" to come out before he buys his new pick-up. Been almost three years now.

If I get stuck, I'll just call one of you guys with the 'new' ones to lock in your front diff - and come pull me out
