Eton 2005 90R restrictors?
#2
No thats about right. Our 04 runs right around that speed on my radar gun.If you want to go faster than that you'll have to get into some modifications geared towards getting some more power out of the engine.Depnding on how heavy your rider is you might be able to change the sprockets to gain a little more top end.

If your saying that your 90 eton only goes 27 mph that just don't make sense my sons 2002 eton thunder with only a performance pipe and the cdi off a 2004 viper put on it and the jetting cleaned up was clocked on radar at 41mph I'd keep playin around if I were you these little motors have lots of possiblities you just have to keep foolin with them

No there are no other restrictors. Our 04 model had the famous green wire to cut on the cdi box and that was it.The 05s have the adjustable cdi limits which is a great idea I think. There are many built in restrictors,if you want to call them that, that aren't so easy to replace. The air intake, carburetor, exhaust and clutching are all built in restrictors that severly limit the output of these little engines(look at a comparable two stroke dirt bike engine).Glassman I'd love to here more about your bike.Jetting and a pipe alone don't add up to a 10-13 mph increase in my eyes but hey I've been wrong before.

oldyeller I would love to hear you elaborate on the "green wire" on the eton.
We just got a 2004 Viper 90R for an 8 year old, but he has been riding since he was 3, so naturally 15mph is not fast enough for him. Anyhow, what did you do to remove the speed limiter on this bike. Does it use the stock cdi still, or did you have to get a different one? I got an unlimited cdi from a place called hatrick racing, but it didn't help. They had me looking at the intake for restrictors. I am at my wits end.

Look at the "green wire cutting post" by trasher a little further down the page.I described where the wire is and how to cut it.The stock 04 E-ton CDi is a good one and will rev beyond what the stock engine needs.I'm not sure why Hetrick would sell you a new one.People actually swap stock e-ton cdi's onto some other makes where the rev limiter cannot be bypassed such as some Polaris models.I'm a little confused though you say you have an 04 90R model when the reverse model should be an 05 model.I have no personal experience with the adjustable cdi box on the 05s but I understand that top speed should be the same as the older style when the box is on its highest setting(#7 I believe). There are no other restrictors on the 04 models. You should get at least in the high 20 mph range in completly stock condition.I even got 26 mph with my 200lbs on it.

27 mph for stock is right. The 27mph makes alot of sense for any totally stock machine. Just putting on a pipe and an air filter will open up any mini. Plus CDI and jetting will give it alot more than the stock setup.
Our predator 90 @ stock will get up to about 30mph with my 120pd butt.
there is no 2004 Viper R...the reverse model came out in 2005.
