Default Stainless or Aluminum Skid guard?

Hey guys, I just bought a TRX450R and i'm looking to buy a new rear skid plate. I have seen a lot of aluminum ones, but I found a stainless steel swing arm plate on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESE%3AIT

They say it only weighs 5 pnds and the aluminum ones are 3 lbs. I would imagine the stainless one is tougher.

What is your guys input on this? Aluminum or Stainless? Has anyone heard of these skid plates before? I haven't...

please post a reply or PM me on this, thanks.

The stainless would be stronger than the aluminum but I haven't heard of any companies who make them. I would go with the stainless, especially if you could get a really good price on it on ebay.

stainless all the way. I tore up so many aluminum ones from several different companies. My PROTECT stainless are so good, I put them on all the 400exs and had one on the Raptor. Unless you are running strictly in the sand or mx, the added weight is worth it. Just lose 2 lbs off yourself and you will be running the same overall weight.

I used to run skids on the a-arms but took them all off and sold on e-bay. Never found any scratches on the skids so I figured I didn't need them. Been running this way for over a year including several trips to Hatfield-McCoy without any problems. Plus, a lower a-arm is only $38 for a 400ex so no big deal if I messed one up anyhow.
