Default Stage 1 Cam and 11:1 piston reliability???

I have purchased a 11:1 weisco piston and a hotcam's stage 1 cam for my 03 Raptor. I am having my dealer install next week. I am looking for some first hand advice on whether my reliability will suffer. I really hate break downs and only get to the dunes a couple times a year so do not want a broken bike while there and I know dune riding is very taxing on the motor as I run it WO for minutes at a time.

Should I install to get the extra 4 or 5 hp or wait and get a yfz next year???

Once you get that installed and get that air box lid off you should be beating cam modded and piped yfzs. Why buy what you can already beat?

I have had that setup installed in my bike for some time now and it has been very reliable. No problems after I got everything put in correctly. Since you are having the dealer do it, you shouldnt have to worry abou that.

Catalac i had that exact setup on my raptor for over 60hrs (i have an hourmeter) with no problems at all. The only thing i could not get right was valve train noise, it is noiser than stock, aparently that is normal and did not affect anything. Throw that lid away, put on a prodesign and up that jetting and you will luvit !!!!

I am running the same setup also. No problems and runs very well once the jetting is figured out.

Default Stage 1 Cam and 11:1 piston reliability???

Im so glad i found this topic because i was thinking about this all last night. im trying to lay off spending alot of money because in only 15 and im paying every cent for my fourwheeler and good paying work is hard to come by at 15 so i wanted to know wat would be the cheepest but a really good hi-compression piston set up without boring because i think that is pretty expensive to bore isnt it? and i was wondering if Hot Cams stage two works really good and is somthing worth putting money into and if its somewhere around $150. could you also do the thing where you send your core to the manufacture and get your money back or was that a diff company doing that? I have a rappy just to let you guys know what im dealing with

i run the same set up, and you are not going to see 4-5hp from a hi comp piston and stage one hot cam, well i guess i depends on what size bore you went

I dont know about that. The increase in power was substantial from a piped setup. I havent dynoed my creation, but I'd bet money I got at least 3hp, and probably 4-5.
