Default Question to Quadzilla Experts

I know the Zilla's have major bottom end issues with stock cases. My question is this. Will ordering new cases from the dealer fix the problem or are they endowed with the same crappiness that older cases have.

My friend owns a 88 zilla and was toying with this idea. Just wanted to do some research before he drops the 1600 on cases.

Thanks.

Default Question to Quadzilla Experts

The zilla I have had been taken to R&D motorsports in florida to have the transmission gone through and have race cut gears. I think everything was balanced also. I bought the quad 85% restored. He had done everthing the right way and had all of the paperwork. He had decided to start fixing up a car and needed cash. I still havent got it all the way done. I rode it a little and I tell you what that motor is smooth. It doesnt have hardly any viberation

Yep, get the inserts done... Find a shop that can do steel inserts.
I too have heard that the newer cases available have been beefed up, but I've never seen any since they are so expensive.

I absolutly agree that the new cases are expensive. I have them on my zilla, they are reinforced but for the money I would just get the inserts.

I think he had the inserts done and the guy screwed up somehow. The bearings still got beat out of it with the inserts. Took out the main seal on the mag side. We caught it before the gig melt down though.

The cases are also in sad shape, its more than the bearing bosses that hes concerned about. Thats why he wants info on the new ones. This is all good stuff though. Maybe someone else can fix him up if he decides to keep what hes got.

I built they guy a computer, Iwish hed learn to use it so he can ask his own damn questions!

As for your question wildcard, Im from the Brantford area. If you dont know where that is its about 45 mins east of London.

Keep the info coming friends...

Yep, not just any machine shop can do the inserts... I've got a pair that are screwed up too... They crack out and are essentially junk. (OUCH)
