Default 700 efi drive line noise

I purchased a 04.5 700 efi this week as I'm waiting for the 800 camo model to come out . I notice allot more slack or slapping noise coming from what I think is the drive line then the 03 700 I just sold. Is this normal?

Thanks

Mine makes all kinds of noise... I hate it (the noise that is)... its kinda emabarrassing when riding with others.. but my polaris guy says its normal I know of two others that have 700 efi's and they do it also, although doesnt seem quite as loud as mine, but I think mine has gotten louder the more I ride it... the others have way less miles than mine..

Go on any of the forums and they all say the 700 has a lot of drive train noise. I can honestly say my 500 HO has 0 drive train noise, squeaky plastic is a different story.....

yep both of mine are cursed with the driveline noise. I'm curious to see if polaris did something about it for 05. If you look at polaris site I see they changed the way the gas tank cover meets up to the fender area. My 04 has a good sized gap on it. hopefully the new models don't have fuel pump problems like the 04's.

When you guys talk about the driveline noise...are you talking about the chatter you get when you deaccelerate? Especially going downhill in high gear? My '02 700 has done it from day one. So does my buddy's '02 700.

I have purchase several Polaris models in the past years.
But I have to say I'm not happy at all with my 04.5 700efi. I had just sold my 03 700 in hopes that the 800 camo would be on the dealer floor soon. I was told that maybe early Feb. I had to have something while waiting so I got the 700efi. I now wish I would have kept my 03 700. The slapping noise in the drive line or the clutch should be a embaressment to polaris!!!! It is to me while riding with others. My friends say it sounds like it's gonna come apart. I don't even enjoy the ride because of all the noise.
Polaris knows that it's a issue but has no fix. My dealer is has been great about it in calling the tecs at Polaris for info but no fix. I have been ridings their products for over forty years and have always supported them. Ihave only 5 hours on the unit and I want it corrected. For the money one has to spend for these I expect only the best from Polaris. I don't know if the 03 clutch would work or not I will find out tomorrow, maybe I can replace it with a 03.
