Having had to use the recoil started on my '98 Prairie once due to a completely dehydrated battery I think it's a good think to have. I can't tell from the pics I've seen and it doesn't mention it in the spec sheet on the Kawasaki page....

 

yes it does. but good luck pulling it to start it. I tried on a cold engine and I gave out before it would start
