2004 SP 600 Twin 4x4 vs 500 HO: questions...
#1
I love the 500 and have not been on a 600. Can someone give me the pros/cons of the two as far as an all around trail and light work vehicle, more fun than work Mountain terrain no real mudding. The price diff. is negligible at this point.
thanks in advance.

As a former owner of a 600 Twin, I say stick with the 500. The 600 Twin is a bad prototype. I got rid of mine because it would not run right. Even the dealer complained about the problems they had encountered with the 600. It has a bad carb. as well as intake and quits because of vapor lock. The 600 will not run less than fifteen miles per hour, but it will go from 15 to 65 mph with no problems. Great suspension for playing but a terrible suspension for working around the farm.

Ive had my 600 for about 6 months now. I can honestly say that I havent had any trouble so far. There are some isues that I think could be addressed , but from what ive read here, they arent limited to the 600's. In a nutshell, I think they are both good machines. In my case, the 600 was only $200 more, so I figured "why not"

No comparison... get the 600. They are too close in price but not in performance - get the 600 and you will not be sorry. What few problems they had with the twin were early on, should be a great ATV for you now.

Get the 600. The smooth power of the 2 cylinders and awesome low end grunt was enough to impress me. I've had no problems with mine, bought it in Dec. 2002. The cold weather starting is fixed with a simple carb adjustment.
And as far as what the other person (shoulda) said about not running under 15mph is pure BS. I putt mine around the yard at 5-10 mph all of the time. And it has the best all around suspension, not ever being tippy. It pulls like a tractor, is awesome in the mud or snow, plows with ease, and is very comfortable, and quiet too.

I've had my 04 600 for over a year now. Almost 800 miles on it. Only one minor problem but it's not 600 specific. I've had the chance to ride a new 500 and my 600 when it was new, in the mountains around Beavers Bend OK. Both are good machines but the 600 definitely has more low end grunt when climbing. Not enough difference in price to worry about and the sound of the twins are awesome.
