Default Question about Rubicon

I was wondering why doesn't honda do the following with the Rubicon:

1. Instead of all time 4wd, make it 2wd/4wd that you determine when you want it?????
2. Make a locking front diff so when you want to, you can have all 4 wheels pulling the same????

If honda did this, it would be make a very good quad a very awsome quad. I like the Rubicon and I almost bought one, but the two above issues halted me. I think that if they did that, the Rubicon would be one of the best all around quads ever. What do ya'll think???

Default Question about Rubicon

I totally agree with you, also add adjustable preload on the shocks. I added the warn 424 to my Rubi and it totally changed the quad for the better. Some say add disc brakes too, but I have had nothing but good luck with my drums there quiet and maintanance free, I guess if your a hard core mudder or ride in water alot disc brakes are better. 700vtwinman how do you like that praire? I have thought about trading up to a praire 700, but after being use to the versatility and smothness of the hondamatic I don't think I could go back to a belt drive quad. Maybe honda will suprise us and give us the other goodies we would like, to go along with that great tranny!

Default Question about Rubicon

i use my rubicon in my yard and when its pulling in the dirt all 4 wheels were pulling.
i had a tree fall on our fence and took out about 30 feet.
so i cut a twenty foot section of tree and hooked up to the rube and it draged it out like nothing.
so then i went back inside the corral and tryed hooking on to the rest of the tree and it just dug in and all 4 tires spun.
so i cut about another 25 feet off and tryed draging it out and it did but the tires were spinning all
4 all the way.
but i have bin in situations where only three were spining and i wished i could lock it up.
i think its a great quad now and with the 424 kit it can only get better.
honda has a good 4x4 system now but if you could lock up the front that would be nice.
and another thing that would be nice would be that turf switch like the bombardiers have.
and cup holders. lol just kidding.

Default Question about Rubicon

I'm thinking of selling the Wifes Foreman and going with the Rubicon. The first uprgarde will be the 424.
I don't know why Honda won't change it, would only make it better. I'm sure they have some reasonable reason

Good Luck

Default Question about Rubicon

Thre things I didn't like about the Rubicon when I first looked at them; 1. Too boxy 2. No "selectable 4-wd 3. I thought the push button trans was a sales gimick.

Yesterday we turned 4553 miles, 545 hours on our 2001 Rubicon. I love the mud protection from the "boxy" appearance. I don't care that it does not have selectable 4-wd. The transmission is the greatest transmission ever put in an ATV. It has a "gear" for everything and every condition, at your finger tip. I can not imagine riding a manual shift, 3-speed automatic, or a belt driven ATV.

Default Question about Rubicon

Honda has sworn that it will not build a bike that is over 600 lbs. The Rubi is right there at the limit, and adding any more features would put it over the top. You can modify it aftermarket, however you like.

I have a 02 rubicon, and i love it. yea, there are a few small things that they could change, but overall, in comparison of other machines, would pick the honda again.
