Default My Brute Force thoughts

Hello all, new to the board here. It's looking like we're gonna be gettin a new atv soon, most likely an 04 sportsman 700 cause we can get a great deal on them but i'd like to get a brute force so i've been reading up on them. It seems to me the people on the board with prairies diss the brute force quite a bit and try to say that their quad is better. how can you compare them. IMO the brute force is way better. first of all, it's about time kawi but IRS on a fourwheeler. ok, so if you want to slide the back end around corners and stuff like that, a solid axle is better, but for everything else, it falls way behind. aside from the way better ride an IRS gives, it tackles terrain so much better. my sportsman goes through way more stuff than any of our old solid rear axled quads went. the problem is the back axle would drag and get hung up in mud, snow, and rutted out paths. rant over

aside from all that the Brute Force seems like an awesome quad all around. i really like the atv on steriods look it has. it's only downfall IMO may be a center of gravity that's too high and i can see where that could be a problem, but other than that......what an awesome atv!

I don't think the prairie guys are trashing the BF. 1st of all, not very many people have bought one yet, so there is not a lot of objective opinions out there. 2nd, the prairie with it SRA can do many of the things you said. This is compairing apples and oranges. Granted the IRS will give a better ride and more ground clearance to clear deep ruts, but the SRA will be more stable in off camber situations. It will be more stable at higher speeds and has less moving parts. The over-all height is less, thus providing a more stable platform. Saying this doesn't mean that the BF is not as good. It just adds another dimension to the already awsome prairie. My next quad will probably be the BF, not because I think it is better than my 700prairie, but it will give me both dimensions of utility quads.

As a P700 owner, I am very interested in the BF. And if I wanted a quad with IRS, the BF is definately the one I would buy.'

But I like what I get with the SRA P700, and a nice package it is too!

I can feel every pound of water, tools, food, and clothes that I put in my box on my rack.

I am also exercising twice a day to loose weight myself (225#). I sure as heck am not going to get a heavier quad than my P650.

I have ridden sportsmans, and the weight takes away half of my fun. Sorry, I won't even go test drive one, I might as well stay at home and rent a video as own a heavy quad.

I am gonna get a BF, or KQ or 800 Griz, havent decided yet. The KQ will have to shine really bright to get me to purchase a one lunger over the BF, and Yamaha better have seriously repented of their evil reliability and immorally unstable handling for me to consider a yam.

I may wind up with the BF, but I am still gonna wait to see how the others are looking. One thing is for sure, if I do get the BF in a few months, I probably won't pay as much for it then as I would now.

According to the reports already out, the BF is incredibly fun, rides really well, has a very low center of gravity, handles better than all the other IRS machines, and can easily have a few more horsepower added to it with simple bolt-ons that were created for the P700 (CDI, DG3).

I think my 650 and 700 will probably have company in a year or so too. I don't want to be the first one any more, since I rack the miles on so fast, that I want my dealer more fimilar with the BF before I buy one.

nyroc - too bad you won't test drive a sportsman, they weight more than most quads, but they are awesome all around machines. the only time i notice the weight being a problem is when trying to crawl up a steep incline, the tires keep turning but won't pull the weight up. on inclines that allow it getting a run can solve the problem. other than that they're awesome machines, pull like crazy and are very VERY comfortable. and i thought the BF has a high center of gravity? the main complaint i see is that it's unstable on steep inclines.

i'm suprised by the responses this has gotten. other threads gave me the impression that prairie owners didn't like the BF
