for xc racing i was thinking about using 22" tires for just the rears and leaving the fronts 25" for dry conditions and not using 4x4 what possible ill-effects could com of this mod thanks for any input frank

 

with out a mod to the cdi I would say why? You will hit rev limitor too easy with 22 I do with my 25".

 

RANCOR... been there done that... you'll lose 3-4 mph in top speed, but, ( for me anyway ), the 400 EX's couldn't lose me & infact, I was "pushing" them, in the tight woods sections... ( I was also running a 23" X 8" X 12" set of 489 XT's on the front, to lower the center of gravity even more... I've used a set of 22" X 12.5" X 9" TSL's, mounted on 9" X 9" Baja's, & a set of 22" X 11" X 9" Schredders, on the same size Bajas, & even have a set of the TSL's studded up for ice racing, & have a set of 23" X 10.5" X 12" ( 22" O.D. actual ) Duro's for drag racing on asphalt...

MIKEYBOYESQ has just set his Prairie up for hare scramble racing, with 22" tires all around...
