Default 87 quadracer pressure plate problem

ok here goes, when i put my clutch plates in (6 fiber plates,5 metal plates).it seems as though when i tighten down the springs, the pressure plate wants to bottom out on the clutch basket before enough pressure is made for the clutch plates to grip.ive checked my manual and online schematic, charts, and it seems like everything i need is in there.the clutch plates i have are very very worn, wich means they would be thinner, but would worn out clutch plates be so thin they make the pressure plate bottom out?

Hmmm. No The plates wouldn't make adifference when getting them tight. I'm thinking that you are missing that spacer/washer behind the basket. That's the only thing I could think of that would have that much of a gap. Easy to forget tha piece.

Default 87 quadracer pressure plate problem

I just had a problem with my clutch on a '87 Lt250R also, i just put everything back together and on the first ride one of the clutch plates worked its way out and spun between the pressure plate and the basket, wrecking the basket. Now I may of put a washer in the wrong place or may be missing a washer. i haven't taken the basket of yet and with everthing still tight i can wiggle the inner hub a little is that normal or should that be as tight as the basket? I'm getting a manual before i do much more but any info helps, what do you guys think? Also all the bolts were tight on the pressure plate with the right springs!
