Default anxious or IDIOT?!?! you decide

So when I finished ramping my DS onto my truck I was giving it a "proud owner inspection" and saw where the choke was located. Granted this is only my third ride with my new toy. I thought it was odd how easy the DS started cold. Well turns out when i went to go pull the choke lever just to see how it felt.....................IT WAS ALREADY CHOKED!! so these past three rides I have been riding the whole time with the choke ON!!! was i just anxious or an idiot for not checking before i started riding? YOU DECIDE.

so the question is.... what kind of improvement do y'all think i will see with the choke turned off? (T-storm was movin in so i couldn't give er' a test ride.)

Retarded,
Hez

Im not quite sure how you didnt notice it running while choked,,,,hmmm

well since it is a new machine to you, there wasn't much for you to base what it should feel like one way or any other.

Hell, I can never remember which position is choke on, or choke off, In? or out? I usually just ride it and mess with it as I am riding, and whichever way it runs best is how I leave it.

And this is my third DS. There's a senior moment for you.....

What I have noticed is that the choke has less effect on the new X than it did on the older DS's I've had.

The X starts flawlessly, where the '02 Baja was a bitch to get started, and the '01 was pretty normal.

So which is it? Choke in is choke on? (of course it is not really a choke, but an enrichment circuit, i.e. a little extra gas)

Pushed all the way in (Towards the carburetor) the choke is off. Then you pull on it to choke it, however there are two levels of choke. Don't pull TOO hard, or you'll pull the choke **** off, and then you'll have to be extra careful in the future. Funny thing the choke on my 2001 is very smooth and slips into each of the two choke levels easy. The choke from the stock carburetor on my 2003 wasn't as smooth and that is the one I pulled the **** off of. Now I don't use that carburetor anymore so it's no big deal.

Hez,

Don't worry - I did that for an entire day once, and this was after I had owned the bike and used the choke a few times as well.
