This is something I just noticed. I've only ridden my new DS for about 3 hrs. When it is idleing it sounds as if the valves are going to drop into the cylinder. What the heck!, when i rev it up it sounds fine but at idle it sounds like rocks in the valves!!

Any IDEAS???

was the choke on?

 

not at that point, this was after i realized the choke situation and turned it OFF.

 

i'm sure you checked the oil level?

 

i have the same sound i think you are refering to at low rpm it makes a clink clang noise, but ive had mine for about 3 months now runs fine so i wouldnt worry about it to much

 

ive got an 03 and it did it when it was new and after i had tvi rebuild it, it made the same noise.

seems the engine makes a little noise at idle, but you might want to keep a eye on your timing chain tensioner.

 

My 04X has made a little engine nose at idle since day one. Machine has run kick a$$ since I've had it. Probably due for a valve ajustment soon. I just don't know where to take it to make sure it's done just right.

 

do it yourself it's easy and then you will never have to worry about it.
