Default Ported Intake "Better than I thought"

what a difference. I ported my intake per other forum members directions and measurements and what a difference. I took it to St Anthony and it make a half gear difference up hills. I cannot believe that 2-4 hp makes that much difference. I couldn't be happier with the results.

RECOMMENDATION: port your intake. Best bang for the buck (you can do it for free if ya have the tools)

Old news but still good news

Good to hear! I just sent mine off to Mr. HP. I have a dremel but wanted to make sure it was done right.

Did you need to rejet your carb?

I used the same factory main on the second to the top clip and it ran great. that is at 6000ft. I will probably have to put a 170 main in for normal elevation.

I had the FMF pipe already slipped on prior. The only change from one ride at st anthony two weeks ago and the one this last thursday was the intake. Two weeks ago I played with the needle a bunch and even talked with several of the other Ds guys that were there about where my needle was and the jet I was using. Summary: no other changes other than the intake, HUGE DIFFERENCE.

cracker, what tire combo are you running in the sand and how big a guy are you? I ride at ST. A's alot and my needle clip is one up from the lowest groove or 4th posistion. Second from top seems a little lean. I have made my own end cap and ported my own intake. I run a 160 main, clip in 4th posistion and 22in 9-paddle extreme haulers. I can just about clear the top of thunder in third gear. I am a little over 200lbs. With a slightly smaller rider (165lbs or so) the baja can clear thunder in third. Sorry I did not mention before, but I ride an '03 Baja. Just trying to help a little. If it runs great and stays cool enough, run it

I am 210lbs. I have the 165 mikuni main so leaning it with the needle a little would make sense. I will try your set up with the 160 main the next time and see. I can make it to the top of thunder in third also but it is beginning to slow at the very top. If i richen the needle it starts to bog from lower rpms.
