Default scrambler 04 chain adjusting.......

ok i am a moron......i have had this quad for about 4 months now and still dont know how to adjust the chain. can someone explain to me how to do it? i have broken many nail punchs, bent screw drivers and what not. half the times when i stick the nail punch or whatever into the ecce. housing when i go to push it(the quad) the damn punch or whatever just slides with the sprocket.... right now it is soo loose i dont know what i did to it but it isnt your avg girl. now matter what i do i canit tighten it, i really did something to it and i dont know what. i am soo pissed to i was supposed to go riding torr but canit now cuz of this. well i am fed up i am gonna take it too the shop on monday and have them do it. i was just wondering if someone can explain the proccess for me or should i just get a chain tenisnor? i am not sure what this is really, does it make the chain tighter or just helps with jumping or something? the chain is so loose right now i could prob remove about 1-2 links, which i dont know how nor do i know if that is recommended????????

Loosen up the two 1/2 bolts on your brake ,loosen up the two 5/8 in chinch bolts ,put in the punch ,roll it until you have about 1/2 in of play, tighten everything up.

exactly what ftwflh said but i like to make my chain have almost no slack because once i tighten everything up and roll the quad it seems to get a little looser.

yes but for some odd reason that doesnt happen like that. i loosen all the bolts(on 04 models its only 1, 1/2 bolt)and it just dosnt work for me. where do you stick the punch, in one of the hubs or there are 3 small holes in the center of the sprocket just enough for a punch to get though??? and how far do you stick it in?

Loosen them all up and spray WD 40 on the whole thing if that dont loosen it up you are in trouble.

Yes you have to remove the chain and cut off the chain guide.

The punch should go thru your sprocket into the into a retainer hole in the side of the housing. Also make sure you load your suspension when you are tightening your chain or you will be over tightening it. which means when you hit a jump you will be taking a serious risk of snapping your chain. I use a tie-down to load mine basically squat your suspension as much as you can.... gl
