fx 400
#2
A friend of mine just saved an fx400 from being parted out. I just got it back together for him last weekend . My initial impression was that it is cleary more powerful than my moto but since it doesnt have the moto shocks or a arms it is only faster in a drag race. The one thing the fx400 has over the newer models is the better engine cases ,higher compression and hotter camshafts. Slap LT suspension on one with the mc1000 ecu and it should be easily competative with anything out there . Of course in mx the rider makes the biggest difference not the quad. For trail riding they are built narrow just like most sport quads so they can be a bit tippy. To me anything less than 50 inches wide is tippy . I would also recomend getting a one tooth taller front sprocket for trail riding otherwise you will be wheeling every gear.
