Just curious how often the oil should be changed on a 400ex. The owners manual says every 100 hours but that seems like a lot to me. I have been doing it at about 40 hours but it seems some are doing it at 20.

 

I wipe the dipstick on a paper towel, and when it begins to get a little dark, I change it. That usually turns out to be about 20 hrs. I have to say that I ride in very dusty conditions, so I don't mind being a little **** about this. But, I think 100 hrs. is ridiculous, under any conditions!

 

I wouldn't go 100 hours without changing my oil for nothing. I change it every 500 miles, thats probably 50 hours or so. I would rather change it every 20 that every 100. You can't change your oil too ofter.

 

i usually try to change it around every 20 hours, if you can afford the quad what is the extra 10 bucks to maintain it.

 

the more you change it the better.. i do it all the time.
