450R tires and gearing for duning
#1
Is anybody running 22" haulers on their 450R? If so, what gearing are you running? I am interested in all around duning over hill shooting and drags.
Thanks, -RT

Where and how you ride will make the choice for you. I ride mainly open sand, faster speeds, bowls, rollercoaster stuff but also some more technical stuff, ridges and some trails. I'm not really into hillshooting with this quad it's more a play bike. That all said here is what I run and what I would try if I were you if you ride like me:
With the 12 tooth I found I was shifting way too much...i've tried 12/13/14 fronts along with 38/39 rears and settled on 14/39 for all around duning. i run 20x11-8's 8 paddle haulers. with 22's i would try your stock gearing first.

I'm running 22x11x8 8-padde Haulers. I have a 13 tooth front and it is an awesome setup for hillclimbing. They absolutely blow away the 20x10x10's I first tried. No comparison on hook. 1st gear is about perfect with 22's and a 13 tooth.
*EDIT* I just read more carefully that you aren't interested in hillclimbing. That being the case, I'd say the 20's on 10" wheels would be more fun for you. The 22's definitely don't slide sideways as easily.

Good to hear from you again oldsandman. I gave up on the street bike motor in a R frame and got me a 450R.
I just got back from Little Sahara OK this afternoon, and here is my setup (still tweaking though).
20x10x10 8 paddle haulers, I have ran both stock gearing and a 13 counter sprocket. The 13 was a definite improvement in first gear and taking off. My 450R is still stock. I weigh 220lbs and ride everything, seems to be a pretty good setup. I took all the preload off, and softened up the compression one full turn and the rebound down half a turn. Not much of change though if you ask me. I cant wait until I can put an exhaust on there and then well see.

I have 13/38 gears with 22x11x10 8 blade haulers. I just had it at coos bay and it worked perfect. It didn't pull 5th all the time but, most of it. I weigh 255 pounds so I'm sure that can factor in to that problem. The next time I go I'll try 13/39.
